Women’s Ministry

The Women’s Ministry at FBC Farmersville is a vibrant group of women of all ages and stages who join together to seek a deeper understanding of God through the study of His Word. Together we examine our faith and encourage each other through fellowship, discipleship, and prayer to live in a way that pleases God.

Colossians 1:10 “So as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.”

You will find the FBC Farmersville women serving and discipling within our church and reaching out to the community around to impact the Kingdom for God’s glory. Whether our FBC ladies are digging into a Bible study together, learning more about missions around the world, fellowshipping over coffee, or raising funds for pregnancy centers, we are building community in all that we do.

  • We believe that God created us to live in community with other women. Life transformation happens through the truth of God’s Word within that community. To encourage that growth, we offer a variety of small group Bible Studies throughout the year that help develop relationships while growing understanding our understanding of the Bible.

  • FBC women enjoy opportunities to get together and fellowship together throughout the year. Simple evening get togethers are planned to maintain connections and weekend retreat options are offered to allow connections to deepen while learning God’s Word. We enjoy Christmas craft nights and fall missions meals. There’s a large range of opportunities to connect. Check out our yearly calendar or join the FBC Farmersville Women’s Ministry Facebook page for upcoming events.

Worship Ministry

We have two morning worship services that are identical. Whether you come for the early service at 8:30 AM or the late service at 11:00 AM, you will sing the same music and hear the same preaching. We strive for a welcoming, multigenerational worship service each week in which believers of all ages and backgrounds will be edified as they join in God’s praise!

Most weeks, our choir leads worship along with piano, organ, and worship band. We also have a bluegrass band, a youth worship band, and an orchestra that each lead worship a couple times a year. We seek to utilize all the talents of our congregation for God’s glory in worship. If you have a musical or artistic talent, we want to give you the opportunity to use it for Jesus Christ.

Our Worship Priorities: Singing, Saturating with Scripture, and Celebrating the Gospel

Singing: Colossians 3:16 says, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.” We employ a variety of musical styles, including traditional hymns, southern gospel, contemporary praise and worship, modern hymns, and even newly composed songs written just for our congregation. All the songs we select, no matter what style, are singable. That’s because the most important part of the worship music is the sound of the congregation singing.

Saturating with Scripture: The first part of Colossians 3:16 says, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly.” We read scripture aloud every time we come together. We try to be careful about picking music that is scripturally sound and scripturally deep. Whether Pastor Bart Barber or one of our other pastors is preaching, he will preach an expository sermon from God’s word.

Celebrating the Gospel: Romans 1:16 says, “I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes.” From the songs we sing to the structure of the worship service, we celebrate the gospel of Jesus Christ every Sunday. God is holy, yet merciful. Even while we were still sinners, God demonstrated his love for us by sending his son Jesus to die for us!

  • Our choir meets every Wednesday night from 6:45-8:00 PM in the sanctuary and is open to anyone who is college age or older. The choir leads worship along with Worship Pastor, James Cheesman, each Sunday by singing all the congregational music in addition to singing special choral pieces frequently. The choir is also active outside of Sunday mornings and has sung at local nursing homes, community events in Farmersville, and worship events outside of Farmersville. They have recorded new choral music for up and coming composers. They have also sung the National Anthem multiple times and recently led worship at the Southern Baptist Convention Annual Meeting in New Orleans in June 2023.

If you are interested in choir, please contact James Cheesman.

  • Do you want to sing with the choir, but you can’t because you are busy on Wednesday with another ministry? Or would you like to sing with the choir for part of the year, but you can’t commit to singing every Sunday? You can! Any high school student or adult may join the choir for Christmas or Easter. The choir usually practices for Christmas and Easter on Wednesdays from 7:30-8:30 PM, after all other activities are finished.

We typically prepare a musical for Christmas and a collection of choir anthems for Good Friday and Easter. We also form a drama team and orchestra for these presentations. If you are interested joining the drama team, orchestra, or choir for Christmas, Good Friday, or Easter, please contact James Cheesman.

  • Our worship band includes guitars, piano, bass, drums, and occasionally other instruments like violin, mandolin, and upright bass. The band normally practices on Wednesday nights at 6:00 PM. If you play an instrument and want to play with the band or use it in some other way, please contact James Cheesman.

  • A couple times every year, a bluegrass band including fiddle, guitars, mandolin, banjo, and upright bass come together to lead worship. We invite you to come and pick n grin with us!

  • A couple times every year, a multigenerational choir of kids, parents, grandparents, and friends of all ages come together to lead worship. If you are interested in singing in family choir next time, please contact James Cheesman.

  • The Youth Band leads worship each Wednesday night for HAVOC in the Warehouse at 6:00. They also lead worship a couple times a year on Sunday mornings. If you are interested in joining, please contact James Cheesman or Cameron Crow.

  • S.M.A.K. (Summer Musical Activities for Kids) - Each summer we have a weeklong camp for kids where they learn a musical! Monday through Friday they learn the drama and music which they usually perform on a Sunday night. The kids also get to spend the afternoons doing fun outings like going to a water park, trampoline park, obstacle warrior kids, or Crayola Land.
