FBC Farmersville has about 150 students grades 7 through 12 who are searching for a student pastor to help their parents grow them in the grace of Jesus. Could that person be you?

About the Opportunity

  • Tree in the shape of an upward trending graph.
An Opportunity for Growth: Farmersville, Texas, is in Collin County, one of the fastest-growing areas in North America. Our community lies just beyond the growing edge of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, in an area poised for rapid growth by 2030. Indeed, the growth has begun already. Our population within our city limits grew 30% in 2021, with even more growth happening in the surrounding area.
  • Child pouring water from a watering can on his head to grow.
An Opportunity for Personal Development: Farmersville is located within driving distance of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, which is one of the premier schools for training student pastors, and online education has made it possible to study from here at schools in other places. In 2021 we added a policy granting full tuition reimbursement for qualified employees pursuing qualified degrees at qualified schools. If desired, you could serve here and train under leading experts like Dr. Richard Ross. Likewise, if you already have one seminary degree in place, but are interested in pursuing a terminal degree, this could be a good place for you to serve while accomplishing that. The church has a long history of employing seminary students. Every member of the current ministry staff either has studied at SWBTS while employed here or plans to do so soon.
  • A community of people gathered into the shape of a house.
An Opportunity for Putting Down Roots: Our Lead Pastor has been here since 1999. Our average tenure for full-time staff members is 18 years. This is a great place to work, and the successful candidate can stay here and grow with this church.
  • Ball bearings form an arrow with a red ball bearing at the apex.
An Opportunity for Leadership: We have a fully-staffed volunteer base covering Sunday School and Wednesday ministries in closely-graded classes from 7th grade through 12th grade. Our student ministry occupies its own building—the newest building on our campus. The location is fresh and welcoming. The volunteers are eager and enthusiastic. They stand ready to welcome a new leader.

About the Position

  • A Full-Time Ministry: We are seeking someone to live on the field in Farmersville and serve the congregation in a full-time capacity. We are offering a competitive salary plus full medical insurance with Guidestone for the employee's entire family, as well as retirement contributions equaling 10% of salary. We also offer a sabbatical program available every seventh year and a tuition reimbursement program.
  • A Southern Baptist Congregation: Our church's statement of faith is the Baptist Faith & Message. The successful candidate will be a Southern Baptist who is in full agreement with our statement of faith (read it here) and our membership covenant (read it here). Ministry Staff members cannot use beverage alcohol or recreational drugs. The student pastor is considered to be a pastor in every way and must meet all of the biblical qualifications for pastoral office as outlined in our statement of faith and in the relevant biblical texts.
  • A Caring-Well Congregation: The successful applicant will need to pass a stringent criminal background check and references check. FBC Farmersville is presently implementing the "Caring Well Challenge" and is following the highest industry standards to protect children from abuse. Fair warning: This is not a safe place for anyone who wishes to harm children.
  • A Place to Apply What You Know and Are Learning: We are seeking a candidate who either already possesses or intends to pursue specialized training at the seminary Masters-degree level. We are happy for you to pursue your education while working here.
  • A Place to Reach the World: FBC Farmersville is an Acts 1:8 congregation. We have adopted an Unengaged Unreached People Group in West Africa. Ministry Staff members will have the opportunity to travel to participate in church mission projects. Interest in missions and interest in teaching students about the Great Commission will be necessary in order to succeed here.
  • A Text-Driven, Team-Driven, Member-Driven Congregation: Our text-driven commitment reaches beyond the preaching event. We want the text of scripture to drive our approach to ministry and to life. Brother Bart gives leadership to our staff, but our pastoral team works collaboratively, as does our ministry staff, so we are team-driven in our approach to shared leadership. Ours is a congregationally-governed church and a congregationally-propelled church—these are the volunteers who make it all happen—so we are member-driven in our decision making and in our ministries.
